DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The return of Robert Yates Racing is on.
David Gilliland became the 33rd driver to win the pole for the Daytona 500 on Sunday with a lap of 186.320 mph, edging his Robert Yates Racing teammate Ricky Rudd to give RYR a sweep of the front row for the second time in the team's history. Gilliland scored his second career NEXTEL Cup Series pole behind-the-wheel of his M&M's Ford and will start his first Daytona 500 next Sunday from the top spot.
